Milk Maid ‘Yucca’ Out Today In UK & Europe & Tour Dates

“Yucca is a brilliantly messy thing, sitting between the lo-fi haze of Woods and the buoyant bounce of Black Lips.” 8/10 NME

“Milk Maid are already a smashing success.” NME Radar

“Fucking Brilliant… Song of the year so far…I am addicted” Frightened Rabbit

“Tapping on raw and edgy recording techniques that sound more like the inside of a skip than a recording studio (or in this case, a flat), the album offers a collection of easygoing pop songs twisted with a side order of dark, loitering anger and unpredictability.” 4/5 Artrocker

“With the eleven tracks on offer here having been so lovingly crafted and beautifully executed, it’s hard to see Yucca as anything other than a triumph.”The Skinny

“Yucca is blissed out, fuzzed up indie-pop at it’s DIY best… One of the albums of the year so far.” 5/5 Narc

Today marks the release of Milk Maid’s début album Yucca in UK & Europe.

Recorded in songwriter Martin Cohen’s flat, when the indefinite hiatus of Nine Black Alps meant the bassist found he had time on his hands, Milk Maid’s debut album ‘Yucca’, is the sound of an artist moving out of the shadows of the rhythm section and delighting in the freedom of doing things his way. The result is an album that might have come out on Creation Records in their 80’s heyday, recalling indie stalwarts like Comet Gain and marrying timeless pop hooks with the raw spontaneity of home recording. Sweet, sun-drenched pop hooks are pitched against viscerally dark lyrics that explore disintegrating relationships and emotional conflict to a backdrop of Cohen’s Manchester hometown.
