Hauschka News Update!
FatCat artist and composer Hauschka has been hard at work on multiple projects, including a score for a new film by multiple award-winning Brazilian director, Karim Aïnouz, currently in post-production. The movie, produced by Hank Levine of City of God, is titled Praia do Futuro and set for release by the end of 2013. Another film, this one a short movie called Wild Horses, and also scored by Hauschka is garnering buzz following an award for Best Live Action Short (15+ Minutes) at Palm Springs Int'l ShortFest, with critics calling it "magnificent".
In the world of musical theatre, Wagner's Flying Dutchman is getting a makeover courtesy of The Hamburg Schauspielhause, Germany's largest playhouse. It will feature new music and choir pieces composed by Hauschka, too. There's also a great video up on youtube called Noise Is Music - part of the Avant/Garde Diary sessions - in which Hauschka offers "both a demonstration and introduction into the philosophy behind manipulating the acoustic sounds of a grand piano". Watch it here.
