Hauschka announces London show with Hilary Hahn
The Bishopsgate Institute will host Hilary Hahn & Hauschka on Friday 15th March for an evening of innovative improvised music in this latest edition of the Vortex City Sessions, curated by The Vortex, Dalston.
This unique collaboration sees the coming together of Hilary Hahn, described by the Washington Post as “one of the greatest violinists in the world today”, and cult German pianist Hauschka. The pair released their collaborative album 'Silfra' in June 2012 through Universal / Deutsche Grammophon.
Silfra is named for the geographic feature near Reykjavik, Iceland, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. This represents the breathtaking locale where the album was recorded, but also signifies the unfamiliar terrain where these two distinct musical minds met to collaborate. The hours of work which went into the creation of Silfra has formed a unique chemistry between Hahn and Hauschka, who are captivating to witness on stage. The exceptional musicianship of these two performers, combined with their creativity as improvisers, make for live shows of outstanding beauty and depth of feeling.
