Busted Lip - the brand new single from Toronto's surf-punk-gaze 3-piece Odonis Odonis - is available to order in various digital formats starting today. Taken from stunning debut LP Hollandaze, 'Busted Lip' is an intense, biting window into Odonis Odonis' dark and powerful lo-fi, backed with great non-album cut 'I'd Prefer Walking'.

Odonis Odonis was formed a little over a year ago by bandleader Dean Tzenos, originally a hugely prolific and productive home-recorded solo project based on a mixtape of industrial, punk, new-wave and shoegaze that his older sisters made for him as a gift. It has since expanded into a three-piece with the addition of drummer and bassist Jarod Gibson and Denholm Whale.

Today sees the release of a brand new EP of collected works by 130701 (FatCat's "post-classical" imprint) artists Dustin O'Halloran, Hauschka and Jóhann Jóhannsson. Titled Transcendentalism, the EP accompanies the triple-headline Transcendentalism Tour that sees the three artists hit the road for the first time together in venues across Europe.

The EP will be available as a highly limited, hand-signed and numbered white-label 12" sold only on Transcendentalists tour dates, with this digital release being the only full-scale publication of the same.

Featuring brand new, exclusive works from all three artists, backed with specially-selected live recordings of special versions and new arrangements of existing pieces, Transcendentalism represents a musical snapshot of Dustin O’Halloran, Hauschka and Jóhann Jóhannsson as the tour approaches: Hauschka performs with touring partner Samuli Kosminen (aka múm’s masterful, Finnish-Icelandic percussionist), O’Halloran and Jóhannsson both realign previously-recorded material to string quartet arrangements in keeping with their respective live sets for the tour.

O’Halloran donates us ‘An Ending, A Beginning’ and a stunning new version of his 2006 piece ‘Opus 28’ (originally found on his second Piano Solos LP) featuring New York’s ACME String Quartet. Hauschka’s contributions – a skipping and melodious new composition entitled ‘Spark’ and an improvised live piece taken from 2011’s Brighton Festival 130701 showcase – demonstrate the breadth and colour with which he collaborates with guest percussionists. Jóhann Jóhannsson is represented by a recent re-write of film-score piece ‘Glíma’ (taken from 2007’s Icelandic feature Bræðrabylta) and a jaw-dropping, KCRW-recorded live interpretation of a second soundtrack composition that sees LA’s Formalist String Quartet perform parts originally written for brass, with breathtaking results.

French electronic mastermind Niebroj has been selected as the latest featured artist on our Demo website.

A man of few words Niebroj is 26, lives in France and references Jackson and His Computer Band as his master.
In his music he looks for interesting, tasteful and creative sounds.
He currently splits his time between making more dynamic and loud if less noisy tracks and looking for a label.

Odonis Odonis - on a rare free moment on their mammoth UK / Europe tour - recorded a top-drawer, 3-song set with Brighton's Galapagos Presents video-blog site last month. Featuring new single Busted Lip and album cuts Ledged Up and Hollandaze, the session was recorded in the Galapagos curators' friend's living room (evidently to the irritation of the neighbours).

Check out Busted Lip below and stay tuned for the rest of the tracks as they are rolled out over the next few days.

Odonis Odonis will be performing at the FatCat showcase at this year's Great Escape Festival alongside PAWS, We Were Promised Jetpacks and The Twilight Sad at Coalition at 7pm on Friday May 11th.

FatCat's packed with SXSW shows this year. Bands who will be making the trek are: We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Twilight Sad, Breton, Forest Fire, Odonis Odonis, and Psychedelic Horseshit. Breton, who are set to release their first full length record with FatCat called Other People's Problems on April 3rd, will be making their US live debut in Austin this year and will play a few dates with We Were Promised Jetpacks on their upcoming US tour.

FatCat Records and Flowerbooking will be joining up to bring you a fabulous showcase of artists at this year's SXSW. The show will take place Saturday, March 17th at Red 7 (611 E. 7th). We are very excited to announce that Breton will be making their US live debut at this show, joining labelmates We Were Promised Jetpacks, the Twilight Sad, and Forest Fire on the outdoor stage. Odonis Odonis and Psychedelic Horseshit will perform Inside at the showcase and will be joining El Ten Eleven, and The Velvet Teen. It's going to be a packed eve, and It'd be wise not to miss!

The first single to be taken from Odonis Odonis’ debut album arrives to showcase the emergence of a serious new talent. Based in Toronto, Canada, the band make filler guitar-driven tunes that are that are punchy, concise and brimming with hooks. Handle Bars is no exception: borrowing elements of surf guitar and a punk vitriol, forced through the lens of a fuzzy shoegaze production ethos and heady pop sensibilities, Odonis Odonis trail their debut LP with a great window into its snarling, reverberous world. Handle Bars is backed with non-album cut Fixed Things - a melodic stomp through key Odonis Odonis ingredients that acts as a neat foil to the A-side.
