Odonis Odonis – Handle Bars Out Now

Clash ‘Hollandaze’ is deliciously brutal…utterly exhilarating…A blindingly good debut.”

Vice “Home-made garage rock…equal parts early-Cure post punk thunk, angry Del Shannon 60’s swirl and proto-Pixies lo-fi distortion”

The Quietus “A record that anchors itself in surf-punk, guttural shoegaze and a magical ear for a tune…Utterly thrilling…Odonis Odonis are a notch above”

The first single to be taken from Odonis Odonis’ debut album arrives to showcase the emergence of a serious new talent. Based in Toronto, Canada, the band make filler guitar-driven tunes that are that are punchy, concise and brimming with hooks. Handle Bars is no exception: borrowing elements of surf guitar and a punk vitriol, forced through the lens of a fuzzy shoegaze production ethos and heady pop sensibilities, Odonis Odonis trail their debut LP with a great window into its snarling, reverberous world. Handle Bars is backed with non-album cut Fixed Things - a melodic stomp through key Odonis Odonis ingredients that acts as a neat foil to the A-side.

Follow this link to buy or have a listen to the digital single. "I had the difficult job of attempting to entertain the FatCat staff / people with the broadest tastes / and greatest enthusiasm. I spent December surrounded by records / all of them bought this last year (2011) / stuff I love that I don`t usually get to play any where except for at home / stuff that I hoped people might not have heard before."

'No One Can Ever Know' - the new album by The Twilight Sad, is out now on all formats in the UK, Europe and US. It is the band's third album and was produced by Andrew Weatherall, seeing them move towards a more synth-driven sound.

"We wanted to be a lot more spontaneous, get oustide our comfort zone - not to fall back into repeating what we've done previously", explains guitarist Andy MacFarlane. "So we moved to London for a month to record at The Pool and got Andrew Weatherall involved to bounce ideas off and to generally reassure us of the direction we were already progressing in." Lyrically 'No One Can Ever Know' finds singer James Graham on typically ominous form, delivering lightning bolts of malevolent threat as in single 'Another Bed' (released February 20th)

‘Interference’ by Breton available for pre-order now

'Interference' - the second single to be taken from Breton's forthcoming album 'Other People's Problems', is available to pre-order now, ahead of it's release on 19th March.

Sonic and visual experimentalists Breton will release their second single, ‘Interference’ on 19th March 2012. It’s taken from the band’s hugely anticipated debut album ‘Other People’s Problems’ - due for release on 26th March 2012 - and lyrically touches on compulsive, destructive relationships, their internal compromises and justifications. It’s a bold, epic production oozing in attitude thanks to the brass and strings courtesy of German composer and Breton hero Hauschka. He conducted and recorded an orchestra in Berlin, some parts of which were then re-sampled by Breton and worked into the song alongside the classical arrangement. The sounds heard at the end of the track are the string section putting down their bows when the recording session finished.

‘Plastic Boxes’ is a new and exclusive song about people who go back to their hometown and pretend they’re doing really well to old mates when they’re not - reinventing themselves for a brief period of time before heading back to the humdrum of reality. It collides East Coast hip hop with wonky, tripped out beats to create a piece of music that feels like its falling over itself. The sample at the beginning is of a Scottish bingo caller recorded when Breton were loitering outside a bingo hall in Glasgow while on tour with Tom Vek last year – one of the thousands of sounds the band has captured during the recording of the album.

Both songs were written and recorded at Breton’s creative HQ The Lab, a disused bank in Kennington.
